MUSIC:
I am a Catholic musician and have produced three CDs, I am published and
distributed by Oregon Catholic Press through SpiritandSong.com. I travel the
United States and Canada doing parish concerts, youth rallies, regional and
national conferences, young adult gatherings, faith formation events and Catholic
school activities. My specialty is blending a variety of music styles that capture
and celebrate the diverse Church we are. I have also been an official World
Youth Day Musician in Toronto, Canada '02, and Cologne, Germany '05. Oh,
yes, I am called "The Banana Guy" because of a song I do called I Like Bananas.
MESSAGE:
I am often invited into dioceses, parishes or schools as a keynote speaker or
workshop facilitator. I do my best to deliver bold Christ-centered messages that
challenge people of all ages to move toward Christ and live life like they believe! I
am a story-teller, and I pay attention to the way God works in and through
the world and our day-to-day experiences, like standing in line at
McDonalds's, or teaching my daughter how to play softball.
MEDIA:
I have always used media as a way to help people learn about faith. I
understand movies, magazines, prime-time TV, videos, music, i-Pods, and
the internet to be important tools with which we can deepen our faith. My
masters thesis was titled: Media as Sacred Font--Sources of Conversion,
Sources of God. It answers one simple question: Is media an authentic
means of finding God? Can you guess my answer? You'll just have to
read it to find out. I have developed a parish mission, several workshops,
and a variety of retreats rooted in media.
PASTORAL MINISTRIES:
I have been fortunate to have worked in a variety of environments. I am
currently celebrating seventeen years of full-time ministry. I have been a
parish youth minister and confirmation director, a diocesan director of
Youth and Young Adult Ministry and a nationally recognized musician and
speaker. In addition to my travel work, I am still a parish youth minister &
Confirmation Director at St. Charles Borromeo in Livermore, CA.
EDUCATION:
I have not gone to Catholic schools all my life, I went to public institutions
through High School. My first Catholic school was St. Mary's College of
California, a Christian Brothers school rooted in the LaSallian tradition. I
received my BacheIors Degree in Religious studies there. I was also
trained by the Center for Ministry Development in the National Certificate
Program. Most recently I received my Masters in Theological Studies from
the Franciscan School of Theology at the Graduate Theological Union in
Berkeley, CA.
FAMILY:
In spite of the many things I do and have done, and the accomplishments in my life,
I have but one primary ministry: fatherhood. I am the proud single-parent of a
beautiful eight year old girl. My most important title is, "Daddy".
MY DEAR FRIENDS:
Summer is just around the corner.
